Taking the bus is not the most convenient way to get from Verona to Abano Terme—there is no direct bus. You will have to transfer in Padua.
When taking the bus, you have two route options:
Route 1: Take the bus from Verona Airport to Verona Stazione Porta Nuova and then to Padova Centrale Station. Transfer at Padova Centrale Station to the bus to Abano Terme or Montegrotto Terme.
Route 2: Take the bus from Verona Airport to Verona Stazione Porta Nuova. Then take the train to Padova Centrale Station. Transfer to a bus to Abano Terme or Montegrotto Terme.
From Verona Villafranca Airport to Verona by Bus
From Verona Villafranca Airport, you will need to take a bus to the city of Verona. Buses run every day from 5:35 a.m. to 11:10 p.m. and arrive at Verona Stazione Porta Nuova (Verona Station). Ticket costs €6 and are valid for 75 minutes from the moment of activation.
Ticket activation is required and is carried out on the bus itself. Activation terminals are located on the handrails.
You can buy a ticket in the bus terminals, at the information office (“ufficio turistico”), or from the driver (the driver will not provide change).
From Verona to Padua by Bus
The price for a ticket from Verona to Padua starts at €5 depending on departure time and route. The Padua bus arrives at the bus station on Viale della Pace, 1. From there, walk two minutes to the bus stop for Abano Terme or two minutes to the railway station (see the map below).

From Padua to Abano Terme by Bus
From the bus stop, you will need to take the bus with the letters A, M, T, or AT—they all go through Abano Terme. The bus from Padua to Abano Terme costs €2.5 per person, and buses leave about every 15–20 minutes
Tickets can be bought at the newsstand, in the tobacco shop (where they sell cigarettes), or from the driver, but the price will be around €5 if you buy the ticket from the driver.

From Padua to Abano by Train and Taxi Transfer
At the train station, look for a panel labeled “Partenza” (Departures) and look for a train to Bologna, Ferrara, or Rovigo—most of them stop at the Terme Euganee Abano-Montegrotto railway station. Check the running line under the chosen route for the list of stops and make sure that Terme Euganee Abano-Montegrotto is present in the list. Then check the train number and which platform (“binario”) it’s departing from. (There will be a column on the display with the word “bin” and the number below—that is the platform number.)
Pick up a ticket at the machine or at the ticket window at Terme Euganee Abano-Montegrotto station (photo below). It will cost about €2.5 per person
Once on the train, your stop will be either the first or second depending on the type of train (the REG train makes one stop, the RV train is express).
Upon arrival at the station, take a taxi (€12–15) to get to your hotel in Abano Terme.

How to Get from Verona Airport to Abano Terme by Train

The travel time and cost depend on the train schedules.
If you are at Verona airport, take the bus to Verona Stazione Porta Nuova. Once there, look for a panel labeled “Partenza” (Departures) and look for a train to Padova. Keep in mind that the no route is called “Padova.” Instead, look for Venezia, Bologna, Treviso, and others. Check the running line under the chosen route for the list of stops and make sure that Padova is listed. For example, the Venezia route makes a stop in Padova.

Once you exit the airport, you can take a taxi (a white car with a checker pattern on the roof with the word “TAXI”). The price of a taxi ride in this area will be about €180 per car.
